He has created a list of six key digital marketing trends that all brands should master in the current digital business environment.

  • Brands are in control. This means that brands with big budgets are controlling the digital marketing space. This is a shift away from the organic social media reach that was previously on the rise.
  • Everything is Shoppable. All digital sites are adding features to make it easier to complete a purchase. This is trying to counter the 'abandoned cart' trend.
  • Show me, don't tell me. People prefer pictures and graphics to reading text. This goes along with the increase in the popularity of infographics.
  • Data is driving mass personalization. Service models must evolve to better personalize information for customers through curation and customization processes. This can be an automated process by using data about the customer.
  • The Internet of Everything. This is related to other trends such as Ubiquitous Internet and The Age of Context. Basically, information technologies will become even more entwined in our lives due to newer technologies, like wearable devices, and because they are more relevant to us because they use data better.
  •  The sharing economy. Brands are powering collaborative economies by use of new technologies.
