Microsoft Research has released a video showing off its IllumiRoom 2.0: RoomAlive prototype. This is a proof-of-concept system that can transform any room into an immersive, augmented reality gaming experience. RoomAlive builds on Microsoft's IllumiRoom technology, a technology which augmented the area surrounding a television screen with projected visualizations. RoomAlive also combines Microsoft Kinect gaming technology and projectors to extend an Xbox gaming environment to an entire room. The users in the environment can interact with things by touching, shooting and moving around. The augmented content coexists with the existing physical environment. The feature video shows a room being transformed into various environments and people playing games within them.
