There is a systematic imposition of cyber boundaries in a borderless world. It is the product of nations seeking to advance their individual sovereign interest at the expense of the general ubiquity of the network.
A few examples from across the world are:
In South Africa, Brazil, recently arrested the local representative of a global internet company, even going so far as to issue a warrant and conduct a raid. The ground for this action was the company?s failure to comply with an order from the government to delete a YouTube video critical of a local politician.
In Europe and the EU has developed a rule, known as ?the right to be forgotten?, that requires EU-based search engines to delete information about European citizens.
In Asia, China has recently adopted a legislative proposal that will eliminate anonymity(and thus dissent) on the network by requiring real name registration for messaging apps; and require internet operators to provide ?support and assistance? to the government by censoring dissent, providing copies of source code and maintaining independent decryption keys for encrypted data.
