A University of Florida spawned company, Prometheon, has a mission to improve global health by delivering a simple, painless, multi-day patch that will eliminate needle injection of drugs. The patches are transparent and biodegradable. They say eliminating needle injection will:
The patches have already been developed and they require little refrigeration so they are ideal for distribution in Africa, Asia, and India. The first product they have developed is an insulin patch. This patch could be worn for up to seven days to deliver the patients daily dose of insulin. They require funding to get the product to market and have decided to use crowdfunding for this purpose. They have an Indiegogo campaign with the goal to raise an initial $75K. They call it the NoPricks campaign. Their target is to get the product to market by 2018.
